Summer, Yet Some Shade
Yellow trumpet trees evoke colours of the forthcoming season, that of warmth. Actually, that of blistering heat but oh well.
After endless days of curling in my duvet of warmth, trying to escape the chill and the mosquitos alike, I felt the lightness of warmth as I rubbed my messy face after waking up at 10 in the morning. Did I accidentally fall asleep on my phone?
Following my morning routine, I took the extra rice made for the doggos that took care of our neighbour’s cows. Living amidst trees, tranquillity, and aloneness had way too many perks. Calling out their names and pouring the last of grains and drops of milk into their bowls, I stood up.
The breeze that tickled the tips of my nose hadn’t ceased like the chill of winters. Untamed hair raged loose in flurries of wind that shut my eyes. Yet, I could see, an abstraction of beauty. I could hear, feel, smell, an abstraction of beauty.
Soft pink petals of blossoming beauties flew before a smile, enchanted. Mortal worlds had been untouched, the beauty world immersed a mesmerized. Even my internal monologue was speechless, bound by a unique experience. The dead opposite of unnatural, yet as rare.
I looked at the unravelled paths of dirt. Purity. None of tar, none of man’s works.
“No one lives near you? That must be sOoO sAd,” they say, for I live in a meadow of silence, with urbanisation around, yet none in the pathways of nature. They're a few who love the euphoric poison that runs through their veins, society.
Surrounded by parental love, always. But toxicity is higher than simplicity in external society.
Enough is paid for mere trips, to be unbounded from polluted pasts and presents.
‘Breakfast served!’ my mom calls out. The dogs sure are startled by my sudden resurface into reality. Petting them goodbye, I go to hog home grown broccolis along with a scrumptious meal.
Experiences that seem fake in this age are never believed to be existent, such as delving into nature. But who’s to decide but one who’s experienced both?
